LA JOLLA COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL - THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT

I designed this mural in collaboration with 25 students at La Jolla Country Day School. The mural depicts a coastal landscape featuring the school mascot, a Torrey pine tree, and incorporates 720 ceramic butterflies, each carefully adhered by hand to the wall. These butterflies were hand-painted and fired by @torreyarts students as part of The Butterfly Project. Together, they symbolize hope and the community’s collective effort to support one another. This collaborative piece not only enhances the space but also serves as a reminder of the enduring spirit of those we remember.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of the LJCDS students and our amazing team of artists: @mister_esteban @katyyeaw @izzymcfizzy_@ldltower and @emma.jbie who was there for the first part of the project!

SAN DIEGO RESCUE MISSION

This @artreachsd mural, located at The San Diego Rescue Mission is all about transition and overcoming hardships. As you traverse the almost 80 ft wide wall, you walk from the night sky to the rising sun of a new day. It features the different landscapes of our amazing city of San Diego: the coast, mountains, and desert. Two doves are present, which represent community and togetherness, while the agave and beavertail cactus in the desert scene represent resilience.

This mural wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing work of the residents of This mural wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing work of the residents of @sdrescue @iidasocal @mister_esteban@emma.jbie @ldltower @jojowangdesigns@izzymcfizzy_ and @kaitlin_p.

Also special thanks to @delawie_architecture for bringing us on this project as they help update and transform the space for the residents, as well as @sherwinwilliams for donating the paint!

ARTREACH HQ

New ArtReach HQ in Hillcrest! This was a collaborative design with @mister_esteban@izzymcfizzy_ and myself, however I was on vacation during most of the design process so major props to Esteban, Izzy, and the rest of the ArtReach team that contributed! 👏

The community paint day was a lot of fun and the first time Saba, Azira, Aidan, and I all worked on a mural together! A big thank you to the 200+ community members who helped paint this wall.

This mural joyfully captures the heart of ArtReach: an inclusive, welcoming space that celebrates youth creativity and community connection. Located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood, this mural honors our shared community’s vibrancy and rich history.

Prominently featured are highlights from the Hillcrest Pride Parade, with colorful legs marching resiliently through confetti. A serene coastal landscape acknowledges Kumeyaay land, with tide pools symbolizing constant change. Cyanotypes (sun prints) of local wildflowers, created during ArtReach community workshops, complement a disco ball that reflects the importance of celebration, movement, and play within our lives. The Georgia Street Bridge, proudly adorned with an inclusive pride flag, stands on the horizon, marking the gateway to our neighborhood.

Above the bridge, a triptych illustrates the transformative power of art. A matchstick’s spark evolves into a moon, and then a bird in flight, to symbolize the creative journey of each youth participant in ArtReach’s programs. A single spark of an idea can grow into a full-fledged dream. Follow this bird around the corner and you will find youth art classes, mural painting, and collaborative programs in action.

Katy Yeaw and myself also painted the ArtReach signage on the front corners of the building.

Huge thanks to Mike and Scott, Co-Owners of @uptowntavernsd who sponsored this project!

VINYL

For these projects, I digitized paper drawings into vector graphics using Illustrator. The vectors were then printed onto vinyl and laminated with a matte finish. One was installed in an office, and the other in an apartment living room.

I’ve also included a filing cabinet and a dresser that were customized with vinyl prints.
